See you in Heaven, I pray....

I have decided to close down this weblog. I have enjoyed reading several other weblogs of likeminded brothers and sisters in Christ. However, I know not whether I will even continue reading those weblogs. Please know that you are in my prayers. If any of you spare a prayer for me and mine, I am humbled and appreciative of the kindness... may God bless you for that.

"We ought to relate not our own words, but those of the saints; not those which we can draw from our own heart, but those which we can derive from the fountains of Israel."
+St. Bruno

"Man is created to praise, reverence, and serve God Our Lord, and by this means to save his soul. The other things on the face of the earth are created for man to help in attaining the end for which he is created. Hence man is to make use of them insofar as they help in the attainment of his end, and he must rid himself of them insofar as they prove a hindrance to him. Therefore we must make ourselves indifferent to all created things."
+St. Ignatius of Loyola

Recommendations (in no particular order):

Kindness by Rev. Lawrence Lovasik, S.V.D (Or the more recently published The Hidden Power of Kindness if you are unable to get your hands on the original.)

He Leadeth Me by Rev. Walter Ciszek, S.J. (It is recommended that you read With God in Russia first.)

True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis Marie de Montfort

My Daily Bread by Rev. Anthony Paone, S.J.

The Collected Works of St. John of the Cross (I recommend earlier translations as a general rule, for instance the pre-1990s translations by Kieran Kavanaugh, O.C.D. and Otilio Rodriguez, O.C.D.)

The Spiritual Life: A Treatise on Ascetical and Mystical Theology by the Very Rev. Adolphe Tanquerey, S.S., D.D. (In more recent years, TAN republished this work as a thick paperback. I recommend getting an older hardback edition, as the paperback that I saw seemed too thick to be a "good" paperback. Also, parts of this work are available through www.ewtn.com.)

Abandonment to Divine Providence by Rev. Jean-Pierre de Caussade, S.J.

Happy Are You Poor: The Simple Life and Spiritual Freedom by Rev. Thomas Dubay, S.M.

Heliotropium: Conformity of the Human Will to the Divine by Rev. Jeremias Drexelius, S.J.

Peace-filled, Organized Life and Freedom from Clutter with Flylady
